In 1986, God gave Apostle Hamilton a vision to organize a full gospel/pre-raptured teaching ministry.
The vision was to launch a soul-winning campaign in the low country of South Carolina. About that time, that he began an outreach Bible teaching ministry in Mount Pleasant, Charleston and Walterboro South Carolina. While using an office building on Neyles Street in Walterboro, the Bible class there grew from twelve people to thirty people. Because of the growth of the Bible study classes in Mount Pleasant, Charleston and Walterboro, a church was born.
In 1987, W.O.R.D. Ministries, Inc. was established and granted a charter from the Secretary of State to operate as a non-profit eleemosynary corporation. The charter created the legal opportunity to fulfill the vision that God had given Apostle Hamilton. The charter granted W.O.R.D. Ministries, Inc. the right to establish a Church (Fellowship of Faith), Bible College (Rhema Bible College), a School of Music (Rhema School of Music), a Christian academy, a residential facility and a crisis counseling center.
The ministry grew rapidly in Walterboro. So God opened the doors and the ministry moved from the small office space (12' X 20' room) on Neyles Street to a church building on Hampton Street. In 1997, God centralized the location of the ministry by moving it to Summerville, South Carolina in order to make it more accessible to its present members. The new location will also to bring together new saints and converts who were ready to enjoy the presence of the Lord in a new worship experience and move into the new millennium with a prophetic readiness.
After moving, the ministry was housed in a store front building in Palm Village Plaza for two years. During that time, God worked out His plan to construct a new W.O.R.D. Ministries facility (48,000 sq. ft.) which cost in excess of one million dollars. In this new facility (Phase I), the ministry has been able to carry out a major portion of the vision.
